Video to Sound — Privacy Policy
Updated: 2026-09-09
Scope and responsible publisher
This policy describes Video to Sound, a local music-making app for macOS, and the corresponding features when available in its other versions. The publisher and controller for support enquiries is LES EDITIONS VOLUMIQUES, 46 avenue Pierre Brossolette, 92240 Malakoff, France, SIRET 52506243600049. Contact: contact@volumique.com.
Local file processing
The app reads the videos and sounds you select or drop into it. Images are analysed and sound is generated on your device. Original files are not modified or uploaded. The original soundtrack is not played in the generated sound mix.
Optional audio analysis
Soundtrack-analysis modes are off by default. If you enable them, level, onsets and probable pitch help control the instruments. The native app’s UMX-HQ mode estimates a vocal track in segments and extracts timestamped measurements. The model is trained on singing: it does not guarantee clean dialogue separation and may retain music or sound effects. It does not identify actors, distinguish their identities or transcribe speech.
Bundled models and components
UMX-HQ and DDSP Flute run locally with Core ML. DDSP turns musical parameters into instrumental synthesis controls. No media or descriptors are sent to an AI provider and no models download during use. FFmpeg and dav1d conversion tools process local files.
No automatic collection by the publisher
The app contains no user accounts, advertising, analytics or tracking tools. The publisher does not automatically receive your videos, sounds, measurements, settings or usage history. The app does not request microphone or camera access to analyse the files you select.
Local retention and deletion
Working images and measurements are used for the session. Vocal measurements are cleared when the video is replaced or extraction is disabled. Imported personal sounds remain available for the session until removed or the session closes. Conversion may create a temporary copy in the app container; abandoned or replaced files are cleaned up when no longer in use. An abrupt termination may leave temporary files that macOS can purge. This cleanup never deletes originals. Interface settings stay local and are not synchronised with the publisher.
Your controls
You can disable audio analysis, cancel extraction, remove your sounds or stop playback. Clicking Load New Video cancels an ongoing conversion before opening the picker. Closing the session window stops its processing, playback and audio engine; the app keeps only its menu so you can open a New Session. Quit closes the app.
Internal connection and external services
The player may receive video over 127.0.0.1 on your own device. This service does not listen on the local network or the Internet. It is not an upload. The App Store, system diagnostics and websites you voluntarily open in your browser have their own practices and settings. This policy concerns the app; visiting volumique.com produces technical browsing data handled by the hosting service and website components, including Google Analytics for website audience measurement. This website analytics service is not integrated into the app or its offline documents.
If you contact support
Email sent to support contains your address and the information you choose to provide. It is used to respond to your enquiry and is not automatic collection by the app. Do not send private footage or sensitive information unnecessarily. Handling these exchanges relies on the legitimate interest in providing support; retention is limited to what is needed to handle the enquiry and meet applicable legal obligations.
Rights and contact
For information you have actually provided to us, you may request access, rectification, erasure or restriction and exercise your right to object by writing to contact@volumique.com. You may also complain to the French supervisory authority, the CNIL. Because the publisher has not received videos or data held only on your device, it cannot access those local copies or delete them remotely.
