Video to Sound — Support
Updated: 2026-09-09
Getting started
Video to Sound turns motion, colours and shot changes into generative music. Click Load New Video at the top right beside fullscreen, or drop a file into the window. No account is required and processing is local.
Loading and conversion
Compatible video plays directly. Otherwise the Mac app attempts local remuxing or conversion. Encoding in progress and its percentage appear in the centre of the video area. The load button remains available: clicking it stops the current conversion before opening the picker. If you dismiss the picker without choosing a file, the previous conversion stays cancelled.
Playback, looping and cuts
Use Play/Pause, the timeline and fullscreen. Loop: on/off selects repetition or stopping at the end. With PRESET AUTO, a confirmed major visual cut changes the sound family. An elapsed-time timer no longer changes families in the middle of a shot. Cuts are anticipated where possible; at the start or after seeking, the visible-frame detector takes over. Single-frame flashes are filtered out. Automatic detection may miss some transitions, particularly dissolves.
Sound palette
The thirty historical presets remain available. Families 31–40 add ten material-sound engines with three variations each and fourteen CC0 recorded fragments. Gestures & Material controls density, persistence, dispersion and space. Auto · Palette limits automatic choices. Sounds & Sources lets you load and remove your own sounds. Native family 41, Neural breath — DDSP, offers three interpretations of a learned flute timbre.
Voice and soundtrack
Under Voice & Soundtrack → Gestures, the Level/onsets and Probable pitch modes analyse the full mix. The native Isolated voice — UMX-HQ option starts local extraction with progress and cancellation. Only measurements control the instruments: neither the original mix nor the estimated vocal track is played. The model is singing-trained and does not guarantee dialogue separation. It does not recognise people or transcribe speech. Extraction may be unavailable if the prepared file has no usable audio track; in that case, prefer a directly compatible MP4/MOV that retains its soundtrack.
Mac sessions and menus
Closing the window stops that session’s video, audio, conversions and analyses. The app stays idle with its menu. File → New Session (⌘N) opens a fresh workspace; File → Load New Video (⌘O) is offered while a session is open. The Dock icon can also reopen a session. The application menu includes About; Help links to support, privacy and licenses. Quit (⌘Q) closes the app.
Formats and limitations
H.264 or HEVC MP4/MOV usually provides the most direct compatibility. The Mac version bundles FFmpeg and dav1d for conversion, including AV1, MKV, AVI and WebM. A filename extension alone does not guarantee playback: codec, profile, encryption or damage can prevent import. External Homebrew or FFmpeg is not required. Native models are unavailable in the standalone HTML file.
Contact us
Email contact@volumique.com with the app version shown in About, your macOS version, the known format or codec and the error message. A short sequence of steps and a screenshot without private data are often sufficient. Do not send private footage by default.
